I’ve been having fun trying out a new Noodler’s Ahab Flex pen I got from Goulet Pens. The pen is great. Same great value that you get with the Noodler’s Piston Fill Fountain Pen, but with a more flexible nib and a bigger ink reservoir.

I’ve had less success with the new ink I’ve been trying out with it. I’m a big fan of Noodler’s Bulletproof Black ink when using my fountain pens. When I bought the Ahab, I decided to give a new ink a try so I picked up a bottle of Noodler’s Heart of Darkness. While Heart of Darkness it is technically categorized as “bulletproof”, I have found that it takes forever to dry. This makes it very difficult to use as with watercolors unless I let my drawing sit a day or two to dry. You can see the results of not waiting for the ink to dry properly in the drawing above – an inky mess. It’s too bad, otherwise the ink looks great.
